“These people have really been to hell and back,” he says. “And I knew it was most likely that they’d never had prasad before in their lives. So it was very gratifying to be able to give prasad to so many people who had never tasted it before," says Abhay Das.

Previously, Rathayatra in Dallas was a small scale affair, with ISKCON Dallas devotees pulling Lord Jagannath’s chariot through their local neighborhood. But last Spring saw them partner with the Dallas Arts District to put on “Festival of Joy,” a major cultural event for the entire Dallas area.
Between five and six hundred devotees from all over North America started the New Year as they meant to go on – chanting the Holy Name and associating with devotees – at Kirtan 50 in Dallas this holiday season.
ISKCON of Houston has planned something for everyone during spiritual and cultural extravaganza this upcoming Labor Day weekend, as well as a special cultural event on Friday, September 7th, 2018.
As an official Dallas Arts District event, Festival of Joy will be advertised on all Arts District websites, email lists, newsletters and Facebook pages. The Festival is also partnering with Fun Asia radio, which reaches 200,000 people, as well as with a number of local yoga centers and businesses.

The new Govinda’s restaurant at the ISKCON temple complex in Houston, Texas is set to receive a grand opening on March 11th, just before Gaura Purnima, with local TV channels, newspapers and radio stations to get a free meal and tour. Govinda’s already had its “soft opening” back in July 2016, launching with no fanfare or advertising. But according to manager Shyamasundara Das it’s been a success from day one, often packing out the large 130-person capacity space, and drawing a 4.6 rating from 121 reviews on Yelp and a 4.7 rating from 71 Google reviews.

Some ISKCON temples have been adding new experiences to their biggest festivals to sweeten and deepen devotees’ absorption in serving the Lord, including this year’s Radhastami festival.In Dallas, USA, there were two Radhastami festivals this year, each with their own unique element. On the official Radhastami day itself, Friday September 9th, devotees bathed Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji in an unbelievable 50,000 roses during a Puspa Abhisekha.
Dallas police are looking for two men who broke into a Hare Krishna temple the night of June 13 and stole thousands of dollars in property. The burglars picked a lock or rattled a gate in the parking lot of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness temple in Old East Dallas, property manager Mike Meyer said. The temple also houses Kalachandji's, a vegetarian restaurant that was founded a few years after the temple in the 1970s.

The official opening festival, on May 17th and 18th, will draw an estimated 15,000 people and mark the culmination of many years of hard work.
From May 17th to 18th this year, ISKCON Houston will finally celebrate the grand opening of its brand new Vedic temple. The temple was originally set to open in November 2010, then later in 2011, but was delayed by multiple challenges. Amongst them were city permit and structural issues, as well as the shocking theft of small utsav deities Sri-Sri Radha-Giridhari on October 6th 2010.
This year’s ISKCON North American Leadership Conference, held at Hare Krishna Dham in Houston, Texas from January 9th to 12th, presented many developments that inspired both new and seasoned devotees alike. Seventy-five devotees attended in total and were housed at ISKCON Houston’s recently built residential apartments.
On September 21st, at midnight Greenwich Mean Time, groups all over the world will participate in the annual Earthdance Global Peace Party. The largest synchronized event of its kind, the party has been held in 600 locations in 80 countries since its inception in 1997. ISKCON devotees will be organizing and catering the Houston, Texas event.
