This year the Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education (VIHE) has scheduled its English Bhakti-sastri course for the period starting July 5 and ending November 6, 2018, in Vrindavan, India.
This book by Bhurijana Das contains the essence of his years of teaching experience and his study of Srila Prabhupada’s instructions on education. Included are such topics as the importance of the mode of goodness in teachers and students, how to become self-disciplined, principles of organization and management, ideas for setting and achieving objectives, how to lead discussions, ask effective questions, listen, and counsel.
The Govardhana Retreat has been going on since 2000 – the first with only thirty students under the trees surrounding Giriraja (we still remember having to crawl under a barbed wire fence to get to our spot!), the most recent with almost a thousand students, now at a rented ashram.
The Bhakti-sastri and the Bhakti-vaibhava courses are a systematic study of Srila Prabhupada's books. Srila Prabhupada wanted ISKCON devotees to deeply study his books, so that they could become better preachers and teachers, and, very importantly, achieve a clear understanding and application of the beautiful science of devotional service.
The Vrindavan Institute for Higher Education (VIHE) course covers the most important sutras of the Sri Harinamamrita Vyakarana, Srila Jiva Gosvami's complete Sanskrit grammar, a work that contains around 3200 sutras or grammatical rules. By the end of the course students will be able to directly read and understand the Sanskrit verses and commentaries on Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Shrimad Bhagavatam, along with several other writings of Vaishnava acharyas.
The Vrindavan Institute For Higher Education (VIHE) in the 2013-2014 semesters offers Bhakti-shastri in English as well as Hindi starting July 9, 2013. The two courses will run in parallel and will conclude on November 2.
